Approach to therapy

Finding the right therapist can feel difficult. I hope that by sharing some thoughts about my approach, it will help you decide if we may be a good match.

The most important factor to a productive therapy is the therapeutic relationship.

That is why our work together will start by cultivating a supportive relationship where you will have a safe, confidential space to sort through confusing thoughts and explore difficult emotions. We will seek to understand the meaning behind patterns and behaviors that may be causing struggles in your life. And we will use the therapeutic relationship to help name and resolve conflicts that are showing up as painful experiences both in the past and in the present.

Our focus together will be on bringing awareness and curiosity into your internal world so you become more integrated and content in life. I will use a non-directive approach so you have the freedom to establish the pace that works for you. The benefit to this way of working is that it allows for any insights and gains that are achieved to come from within you and therefore will be yours to keep.

I will be there with you to help reach moments of insight and change by interpreting what may be happening underneath the surface. As we find a rhythm to our work together, you will gradually be able to understand the underlying cause of your difficulties and begin to rethink the issues that may be holding you back so you can better accept yourself and find greater fulfillment.

Psychotherapy can help improve your confidence and worth by bringing in new perspectives and meanings in life.

I would be honored to have a conversation with you to decide if this feels like a good fit.

“Out of your vulnerabilities, will come your strength.”
